Little Ease Park
For those residents who may not be familiar with Little Ease Park, its name originated from a stream named Little Ease Run which runs through 15 open acres. The land which was acquired from the estate of Frank H. Stewart, and was formally owned by Oscar Huntsinger. The deed was formally presented to Mayor Samuel A. DeMore, Jr. in February of 1968 who created a new town park commission to develop and maintain Clayton’s first public park. Its location is East of East Ave. between Academy St. and Washington Ave. The commission members included Council President Robert C. Schauer, as Chairman; James Galianone, representing the Clayton Jaycees; David Miles representing the Lions Club and John B. Dennis representing the Kiwanis Club.
Today the park consists of tennis courts, swings, a basketball court, a soccer field and tables and benches, with many more advancements to come. The park is funded by a town ordinance that requires home builders to contribute money to a special parks and recreation fund in a lieu of providing open spaces in development.
