WELCOME
We hope you enjoy the 16
th annual Holiday House Tour. We suggest bringing a flashlight for your own safety.Additional tickets may be obtained at the Clayton Borough Hall the night of the tour.
Although the tour is best enjoyed in small groups, for those who do not wish to drive, two (2) buses will be available for those wishing to relax and leave the driving to us. They will be circulating the tour route leaving Borough Hall at approximately 5:00 and 5:30 (or whenever they reach capacity). The buses will stop at each House and wait for you.
For those driving the route we would like to suggest going in the opposite direction as the buses to avoid large groups at some homes and no one at others.
Each house has a numbered sign out front for easy identification.
Clayton Historic Preservation will be selling Trivets, Tree Ornaments, Clevenger Bottles, The childrens book Stephen, The Steam Engine By Glenn W. Kindle, and T-shirts at the Clayton Historic Museum during the night.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE, ENJOY THE TOUR.

He sold the station and went into the restaurant business opening "Snacks at Jack’s". First in the southern store of the building which now holds Best Food in Town, Then on Delsea Drive and West High Street where the vacant lot is. Finally after only about a year he moved into the building where "The Den of Antiquity" now is. He operated the luncheonette until 1965, when he went into the antique business. The original signs with food prices of the day are still on display in the store. The Den of Antiquity is open again and still family owned and operated by the Wiseburn family.

Welcome to our dream house! We purchased this Civil War Era home in February 2002. It needed tender loving care and that is just what we’ve been giving it, since the day we purchased it. There have been many renovations to the first floor since we were last on the Holiday House Tour in 2002. We have come a long way with the house in that little bit of time. Come see our 1861 home originally built as a funeral home, at 540 N. Delsea Dr. in Clayton. We hope you will come year after year to see the progress we will be making, and enjoy the rich history of this great little town.

6. St. Michael’s UAME Church
125 E. Center St. (856) 442-0800
For more than 70 years, the
Congregation Sons of Israel held worship services in the building which is now
the home of St. Michael’s. During 2005 they gave the Union American Methodist
Episcopal Church (UAME) the building with one stipulation: it had to remain a
church of worship. The UAME Church has been on record since the early 1800’s.
Bishop Michael S. Moulden, who presides over the Second and Third Episcopal
Districts (Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey) accepted the
facility on behalf of the UAME Church, Inc. On January 15, 2006 St. Michael’s
held its grand opening worship service, and in May 2006, Bishop Moulden
appointed a Pastor/Teacher and a ministry team to begin the work of ministry in
the Clayton, New Jersey area. The Ministry Team: Sis. Cheryl Scott, Sis. Carolyn
Sykes, Evangelists Rose Kee and Jane S. Moulden, Rev. Beola Randall, Rev. John
Adams and Pastor Sykes. Many, many people have graciously contributed to helping
St. Michael’s become a functioning church.
The Team has been conducting on-going prayer, community outreach projects, and regular worship services since May 2006. Sunday worship services are held at 11:00am, Prayer services are held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm, Bible studies are held every Wednesday at 7:30pm, and there is a question/answer period in which all can participate in. The Bible studies are meant to show application of the Word of God in our daily living. All are invited. Also, the two other ministries operating are "The Last Week of The Month Ministry," at which we assist families who run short of food at the end of the month, and we have "Women-Mentoring-Women," which is an effort to assist women with godly counsel and direction from our women/ministers in order to address the details and problems of daily survival.
ALL ARE INVITED: Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 7:30pm: pre-Christmas Bible study: "The Heart of Mom & Dad," and our first year anniversary celebration services on Sunday January 14, 2007, 11am and 4pm. We ask for your prayers as we keep believing that God will build the "house" called St. Michael’s UAME Church. For information call St. Michael’s (856) 442-0800 or contact Pastor Sykes at:

We are very excited to be part of the Holiday House Tours for the first time. Our Cape Cod style house was built 3 years ago by James Falisi. It is located in the middle of our 11 acre lot. Having our home set back in the middle of the woods we have more than enough privacy for the average family. It isn’t unusual to see wild turkey, deer and fox on a daily basis. With the variety of our own animals including chickens, goats, ducks and Otis our miniature donkey, there is never a lack of things to look at outside. In the warm season we have a riding trail, a pond with paddleboats and playground. The property is great for summer BBQs and in the winter the pond is great for ice-skating. Although the house doesn’t have as much history as most of the houses in town we try to keep our decor primitive country with a little touch of antiques and home made charm.
We look forward to sharing our home with you this holiday season. We are offering a special treats, baked goods and warm drinks for all who attend.
8. The Eichmann
11 Beckett St.

To get to this house you go east on Academy St. until you get to the light at Fries Mill turn left and go until you come to Whitney Dr. turn right go to Beckett St. (2nd left) go down Beckett. The house is on the right just past Hewitt Court. To get back to town continue down Beckett St. to Deshler Dr. turn left go to Fries Mill Rd., then turn left onto Fries Mill Rd. Follow Fries Mill to Academy St., turn right and proceed back into town.
The Eichmann family has lived at 11 Beckett for almost 12 years. The house is decorated in the country style with some antiques, and many handcrafted and hand-stitched items made by the Eichmann’s and their family, and patriotic touches throughout. Lauretta’s love for "houses" of all kinds can be seen in the everyday decor and in the special Christmas decorations. There are lighted houses and shops of different kinds in the foyer, dinning room, living room and master bedroom. There are two new additions this year, plus a very special new house in the kitchen. Favorite artists include Charles Wysocki and Warren Kimble, both famous for the Americana paintings. Their works can be seen in various forms including, wallpaper, rugs, framed puzzles, sculptures, and plates AND the new addition of a framed print and counted cross-stitch. Also don’t forget to look for Snoopy and the Peanuts gang to make an appearance here and there, especially in the upstairs hall bathroom.
